WVBS Case File #008- December 30, 2007- Government Camp, Oregon- Sighting

Category: Actual sighting- Multiple Witnesses

Date of sighting:  December 30, 2007

Location:   Hwy 26 and Forest Road 530, between Government Camp, Oregon, and Timberline Road.  There is also a gravel pit across from Timberline Road

Witness: The witness’ contact information available to WVBS members upon request.

Description of encounter: In the witness’ own words:

“My kids and I were driving back to Bend from Clackamas after spending Christmas with my family. We were heading East on Hwy 26 and it was between 8 to 9 pm. We had just passed Government Camp when my daughter and I saw a large dark figure run from right to left across the road. (My son was either asleep or not paying attention because he says he didn't see anything) The snow was piled high on the sides of the road that year and the figure ran into a cut out in the snow drifts. When we reached the location we saw that the road was only plowed about 15-20 feet in and the snow was piled at least 2 feet higher that my truck. And this figure was nearly as tall as the snow bank! From the time we first saw it to the time we reached the road was about 5 seconds and the figure was already gone! How could a person run across the road, scale an eight foot snow bank, and disappear that quickly! There were also some strange things about it when it ran. It ran kind of leaning forward and its head looked kind of pointed. Its arms seemed longer than a person’s and they swung a lot when it ran. Its upper body didn't move while it ran. The only way I can describe it is it looked like a cartoon when the characters legs are spinning but the top half of him doesn't move. It was kind of jogging but it looked like it wasn't putting much effort into it. Even then, it made it across the road very quickly. It looked heavy and graceful at the same time. When I got home I measured the height of my truck to be 6 1/2 feet.  I have since read of several sightings in the area over the last 20 years. My husband has had an even closer sighting in almost the same spot in 2011.” (NOTE: See WVBS Case File #008.)

Description of creature: In the witness’ own words:

“I couldn't see any hair or facial features, just the silhouette of it. Its movements, speed, and size are what led me to the conclusion it was a Bigfoot.”

Comments: This is one of the most detailed reports we have gotten submitted to us thus far.  The witness and her daughter only got a fleeting glimpse of it because it ran so fast across the road in front of them, but they sounded pretty sure that it wasn’t a human or a bear.  The fact that several years later he husband from Case File #008 had a sighting near the same spot several years later further corroborates her story.  That area has had a strong history of Bigfoot sightings, and still does.
